Thinking about trying out the "church" thing?
Good luck.  It can be a very scary endeavor.  Here are some of the random things people think when
they think about visiting a church:

* Will anyone talk to me?
Based on experience - most people won't in many churches.  But if you come to LFC, they might
yak your ear off - just sayin'

* Aren't Christians just scary, legalistic, judmental people?

Honestly - yeah they can be.  But we've ran most of them off from LFC.  In reality there is a HUGE
difference between "christians" and "followers of Jesus."  And if you are judging us for that statement -
          guess which one you are!

* Isn't the church just filled with hypocrites?
Now...let's be really transparent.  Isn't everyone a bit hypocritical?  Truth is we all tend to be guarded
in what we show people.  We all tend to talk a good game.  We all have lots of work to do.  So this is
usually something someone says or thinks to simply avoid having to look in the mirror.  At The Point we admit that we are all messed
          up.

So if you are someone who has your act together, who thinks they are perfect - you might not want to come cause you won't fit in.  But if
you have areas of your life that is messed up - and you want to check out a faith community with other "real" messed up people - give it
a shot.  You never know...you might find out that you are not alone.

* Don't churches just want my money?

While that's a common perception, it isn't really based on truth...most of the time at least (televangelists often do!)  Let's be honest, if
you come to a church gathering, have you thought about the fact that everything you experience costs the church money in one way or
another?  The coffee you drink?  Yep - it costs money. The donut you eat?  Yep - it costs money.  The use of the building (whether a church
          building or a school?
Yep - it costs money!  The toilet paper you...ok...lets not go there but you get the point.

So...let us help you think of it another way.  Would you go to Starbucks, grab a coffee, and walk off without paying? (if so you really need
to go to church) Would you go to a restaurant, eat some food, and then walk out without paying?  Would you go to college to learn and
think you are going to be able to go without paying?  Would you go to a movie and expect to not have to pay for it?  And yet so many
people balk at the church asking everyone who benefits to help pay for their expenses.  Weird.  And silly!

Now, there are some things that a church can do to keep the expenses down.  At LFC we do not teach that everyone is mandated
(commanded) to give a tithe (10% of their earnings) to the church.  We believe that is from the Old Covenant that was fulfilled.  We
simply teach that everyone ought to sacrifice equally.  We then have chosen to not have a building and lots of programs as they cost lots
of money.  We have chosen to not have full-time staff in order to save money.  And our goal is to keep expenses so low that we are able
to use whatever extra money we have to help people who are in need.  Strange concept huh!
